Done in rustic patina/ gold finish on brass following the pattern of chola bronze statues. The artisan has created perfect balance of facial expressions with the poise .
This goddess statue is undeniably beautiful and graceful, it's quite different from the usual depiction of Parvati. Normally, when she's alone, she's shown with multiple arms, but here, she's depicted with just two, even though her spouse, Shiva, isn't present. This suggests that she might be portrayed in her earlier days, before she married Shiva. During this time, she was focused on winning Shiva's love, unaware that he couldn't recognize her as his previous wife reborn.
The goddess sits on a multi-tiered pedestal with her right leg folded and the left one hanging down, in a pose known as Lalitasana, showcasing elegance and ease. Her posture creates pleasing geometric shapes and highlights her figure beautifully. Her right hand's gesture, along with her closed eyes and the position of her left hand, suggests she might be lost in thought or in a meditative state.
The statue follows strict iconographic standards, with features like a round face, large eyes, and sensuously shaped body parts. She wears a tall crown, a draped lower garment, and minimal jewelry, emphasizing her divine presence.
This depiction captures the goddess in a moment of introspection and tranquility, showcasing her timeless beauty and grace in a harmonious form.
